Meet Buddy – A Broken Heart in Search of Healing

Buddy isn’t just another rescue dog—he’s a soul who has lost nearly everything. What do you get when you mix a Jack Russell with maybe a Sheltie or Corgi? You get Buddy—a gentle boy born in February 2016, now carrying a weight no dog should have to bear.

For most of his life, Buddy had stability and love. He had a person who cared for him, a companion in the home, and his best friend—another dog who was always by his side. But one by one, his world crumbled. His owner became too ill to care for him. Her beloved partner passed away. And then, heartbreakingly, Buddy’s doggy best friend passed too. In such a short span, Buddy lost his family, his constant companion, and the life he knew.

Today, Buddy is safe in a foster home, but he is not the bright, tail-wagging pup he once was. He’s quiet, subdued, and grieving—his eyes searching for the comfort and stability he’s lost. Change has been so hard on him, and he needs time, patience, and above all, love.

Buddy is neutered, up to date on his vaccines, and recently had a dental. He is potty-trained, and though he was crate-trained as a puppy, he hasn’t needed one in years (he may just need a little reminder). He still enjoys the small comforts he knows—his duckie stuffie, a Beggin’ Strip, curling up on soft blankets or cozy beds, and gentle short walks.

Right now, Buddy is trying to learn how to trust again—but it’s not easy. His heart has been broken, and letting new people in feels scary. What he needs most is someone who will give him patience, gentleness, and consistency while he slowly rebuilds his faith in love and family.

What Buddy needs now is someone who can look past his sadness and see the loyal, tender friend still inside—someone patient enough to help him grieve and strong enough to help him hope again.

Please, if you have room in your heart and home for a dog who has lost everything but still longs for love, open your arms to Buddy.
